If you are serious about learning Spanish, then you absolutely should come here. This was my third time in Mexico for language school, and this school in Gto was the best.I was in a class with one other person at my level. The day began with intensive grammar, vocab and comprehension work from 9-12 with Rojelio, a master teacher (I'm a retired teacher of 18 years myself, so I can recognize the great ones) with a hilarious sense of humor. He quickly figured out where the holes were in our knowledge and designed lessons and gave us materials to fill them. All instruction was in Spanish - it was full immersion - and was just difficult enough and just above our level enough to push us without being frustrating. Oh, and there was plenty of coffee available too. After the morning session, we went out to lunch with Javier for 2 hours of eating and conversation. Javier is also a master teacher, also with a great sense of humor (you can see why he and Rojelio have been lifelong friends). Every day we tried a new restaurant, in new locations all around the area, and talked and joked in Spanish, practicing and reinforcing what we had been learning. On several afternoons we were also treated to sightseeing tours of the area, with Rojelio or Javier taking us around by car. We even spent a couple of afternoons/evenings with Rojelio and his adorable kids eating and drink and talking as well.I cannot emphasize how much this was a complete immersion experience with people who treated us like family. After 2 weeks I felt like my Spanish had jumped like never before.I cannot wait to go back, and that says it all.

Are you considering an immersion school but feeling unsure if it’s the right fit for you? I was in the same boat. At 77 years old, I had serious doubts about whether I would fit into such a setting. Despite my passion for studying Spanish and the progress I made over three years of self-learning, I lacked confidence in speaking and struggled to understand native speakers at their normal speed. After researching various schools in Mexico, I stumbled upon Spanish Experience in Guanajuato. What initially caught my eye were the glowing references to the city itself. Choosing a language school in the right location can make all the difference. If you’re not comfortable in the community, you can’t fully immerse yourself in the people, culture, architecture, and most importantly, the language.Guanajuato is an absolute gem. The colorful houses, blending French, Spanish, and Mexican architecture, will leave you in awe at every turn. The locals are incredibly friendly, patient, and proud of their heritage. They are welcoming and eager to help you as you navigate the city, whether you’re buying necessities or exploring the many sights. Guanajuato is also one of the safest cities in Mexico, allowing you to relax and truly enjoy the vibrant culture and warm community. The school itself is staffed with two of the finest teachers you could ask for. They skillfully mix patience and humor to help you grasp and incorporate important aspects of the Spanish language. I stayed in the historical center of Guanajuato, and the school provided daily transportation, picking me up and dropping me off. I opted for a full schedule with three classes in the morning and two in the afternoon, which still left plenty of time to explore the city. One of the best decisions I made was opting to stay with a Mexican family instead of a hotel or Airbnb. This was probably the hardest decision because I had no idea if I would enjoy living with a family. My only request was for a private room and bathroom. My concerns were completely unfounded as this experience turned out to be the highlight of the immersion program. I was paired with a family who had a separate apartment for me and provided breakfast and conversation every morning. The breakfasts were incredible, and the morning conversations felt like another pleasant lesson each day. The couple who hosted me couldn’t have been nicer, and I am sure the friendship we formed will continue into the future. Every single reservation I had before going evaporated within 24 hours of arriving there.I attended a two-week program, and on the one weekend I had, I opted for an excursion to visit the historical cities of Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende. This trip, with 13 Mexican citizens who were also visiting Guanajuato, turned out to be an incredibly fun experience. We sang songs by José Alfredo Jiménez all the way to his historical house and museum. They introduced me to local foods and historical facts, and even gave me the Mexican name San Francisco. This review might sound like a travel dialogue, but it’s impossible to separate the total immersive experience from the school, the community, or the people. For me, the experience was completely immersive. If you have any reservations about attending an immersion school, take a deep breath and dive in. It was a game-changer for me, and I am confident it will be for you too.

This school has the most delightful teachers. I found myself laughing all the way through every class. On the afternoon conversation trips, our teacher was happy to let us explore any part of the local area while patiently helping us to speak Spanish. Every teacher here is a gem, and the school will help you with whatever you need. They even called a masseuse for me and also arranged airport pickups, and they gave us stellar restaurant recs, which as a vegan, I needed! I love Marfil and preferred staying there because the locals were friendly enough to want to chat with me. Their kindness is apparent in how they talk to each other, this is a true neighborhood. That said, GTO is only a 15 min $3-4 cab ride away, so I still suggest this school even if you stay downtown. The conversation portion in the afternoons was usually in GTO, we rode in a cab with our teacher each day and as GTO is a university town, it is really quite fun and has a welcoming vibe due to the students being from around the world. I highly recommend this school! I hope to go back soon.

I have been to 5 different Spanish Schools to learn Spanish, and this one was by far the best! Javier and Rojelio have put together a great program. I took the Spanish for Medical Professionals. The curriculum that we followed was very helpful and targeted to my needs. Rogelio is such a good teacher. He was very patient as I was struggling to learn the imperativo and answer any questions that I had. The knowledge I acquired at the Spanish Experience Center will be directly applicable to my job as a Pharmacist in the US. In the afternoons I had a conversation class with Brenda. She was also such a pleasure to have as a teacher. Was fun to explore the city with her and learn Spanish at the same time. Also, both Javier and Rojelio were such a joy to be around. They are both people that you meet and it feels like you have known them forever. I enjoyed joking with them to make the learning experience more fun. We also discussed a wide range of topics that helped expand my knowledge and vocabulary. I cannot say enough that I loved my time at school and was so sad to have to go.

This was a great experience that my friend and I shared in together!! I had been traveling through mexico, when we heard about the Spanish experience Center for learning spanish .We had heard that a short distance away in the city of guanajuato (airport is BJX), there was a fully immersive program designed specifically for individuals starting from scratch, in spanish. I was able to do 2 weeks with Javiar and Rogelio. These are two instructors that have more than 30 years teaching experience. Not only was the learning productive in class, but the school took full advantage of being in guanajuato, so there were many organized outside activities designed to not only be fun, but to practice the Spanish. 5 stars across the board. Hope to be back!

For some time I had heard about the school in guanajuato with its reputation of being fully immersive in a beautiful colonial authentic Mexican community. Honestly though, I was intimidated at first because it seemed like the "actual real deal" on wanting to learn Spanish -- I had actually learned from other friends that this program is designed for people that actually want to learn Spanish. Anyway, I took the plunge and decided to enroll for initially a two-week program. To say that I was impressed and that I made immediate progress is an absolute understatement. In the end, I decided to extend my stay to 4 weeks, which finished up February 23rd 2024.Not only are the teachers and instructors at the school incredibly knowledgeable, but they're just great people that you thoroughly enjoy being around. I must say, we shared in quite a few laughs throughout not only the structured and customized classes & exercises, but the walking tours of beautiful Guanajuato -- And of course, always in spanish! I realize these reviews are a dime a dozen for all sorts of different schools, but I will be honest in saying that if you really want to learn Spanish I don't think the apps alone are going to work, or a week or two amidst groups of people speaking English will help. The beauty with this program was it being embedded in an immersive environment in absolutely gorgeous Guanajuato, which incidentally is a UN protected heritage City. I felt safe from beginning to end, and the school administrators did everything they could to completely facilitate my stay. I will certainly be back again in the fall, in fact I'm hoping for another 4 weeks commencing at approximately October 13th! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns I would love to speak about my completely positive experience in guanajuato! Thank you so much Spanish experience center!

Spanish Experience Center Guanajuato was great. The teachers were excellent and fun as well. I recommend the Intensive class. The morning grammar lessons gave me a good background for the afternoon conversational classes. The school provided me with information I can study back home in Dallas, Texas, before I return in about 8 months for more lessons. The city of Guanajuato is picturesque, has great museums and is a perfect place to experience the Mexican culture.
